IDF’s Iron Dome batteries reinforced on Gaza border

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman met Monday afternoon for an assessment of the security situation centering on the Gaza Strip,  together with the chief of staff ,Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkot, the Shin Bet director, heads of the national security council and other advisers.

During the day, more Iron Dome batteries were added to the deployment on the Gaza border,  after 17 rockets were fired during the night, two of which were intercepted by batteries. One building was damaged.  A vehicle which carried the special forces to their Gaza mission was demolished together with the hi-tech gadgets it carried.  The IDF captain who was injured in the clash with Hamas which led to Lt..Col. M’s death recovered consciousness in Soroka hospital, Beersheba and was moved to intensive care.

Seven Hamas members were killed in the firefight, including Nur Barakeh, commander of Hamas’ Ezz e-Din Al-Qassem Brigades eastern battalion.
