India approves 2 vaccines for world’s largest covid inoculation drive

 

The drugs regulatory authority in New Delhi has given the go-ahead for the coronavirus vaccines developed by AstraZeneca with Oxford University and by the domestic Bharat Biotech. India plans to vaccinate 300 million people in 2021 out of a population of 1.3 billion, after recording the second highest number of infections worldwide – 10.3 million to date and a death toll of nearly 150,000.
