Iran and six powers finally reach nuclear deal
After repeated last-minute hold-ups, Iran and six major powers have reached a historic nuclear deal, which will grant Tehran sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program, an Iranian diplomat said on Tuesday. The Associated Press cited an unnamed Western diplomat as saying final obstacles had been cleared. The EU announced a "final plenary" meeting at 08:30 GMT, followed by a news conference.
"All the hard work has paid off and we sealed a deal. God bless our people," the diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Another Iranian official confirmed the agreement.
