Iran backs down, permits UN inspection of aid ship
Iran will allow the United Nations to inspect an aid shipment to Yemen, the ISNA agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian as saying on Wednesday. Meeting Washington’s demand, the Iranian official announced: "We have decided to dock our ship in Djibouti so that the United Nations inspection protocol can take place.” DEBKAfile: Tehran decided at the last minute before its vessel, escorted by two warships, was due to dock at Hodeidah, to avoid challenging the US-Saudi-Egyptian sea embargo imposed on Yemen ports to prevent Iranian arms ships getting through to the Houthi rebels.
