Iran confirms Revolutionary Guards units deployed in Iraq

To stem the rapid Al Qaeda advances,Tehran has deployed Revolutionary Guards units to Iraq, Iranian security officials said Friday. At least three battalions of the Qods Forces, the overseas branch of the Guards, were dispatched. The crossing of Iranian troops into Iraq was first reported by DEBKAfile Thursday along with the arrival of Al Qods chief Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad.
