Iran directed thwarted Golan bombing. IDF stays on high alert vs Hizballah
IDF chief Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi on Friday attributed to Iran’s orders the attempted Golan bombing this week – not Hizballah. This was the first time Tehran was openly named as the hand behind an attack on Israel by a military official. The IDF unit shot the four-man bomber squad while it was planting the bombs inside Israeli territory on the Golan. Syrian military positions were subsequently targeted, since Israel holds the host country responsible for aggression from its territory. Israeli positions along the northern border remain on elevated preparedness for Hizballah to go through with its vow to avenge the death of a fighter in an Israeli air strike in Syria. Some of the soldiers were give home leave after a month non-stop on high border alert.
