Iran executes journalist accused of stirring up unrest
Iran has executed Ruhollah Zam, 47, a journalist who was accused of using his popular anti-government Amadnews website to fuel the nationwide protests of 2017-18. He was hanged on Saturday after the supreme court upheld the death sentence against him, state TV reported. With more than a million followers, the website was shut down by the Iranian government and reopened under a different name. It is unclear how Iran laid hands on Zam, who had been living in exile in France. He may have been detained last year during a trip to Iraq.
