Iran launches home-made destroyer in Caspian Sea
The Jamaran 2 1420-ton destroyer, powered by a 20000-horsepower engine, with a speed of 30 knots, able to carry helicopters, both guided surface to surface and surface to air missiles and torpedoes, was launched in the northern port of Bandar Anzali Sunday. Defense Minister Ahmed Vahidi said the new ship is designed to protect Iran’s 20-percent share of the Caspian Sea.
