Iran planning ICBM tests soon after new US president takes office
According to a schedule published this week by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, the country will conduct a large-scale test of intercontinental ballistic missiles about a month after the new US president takes office on January 20, 2017.
The schedule says the missile launch exercise will include the Simorgh space vehicle, which is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and reaching targets on the east coast of the US.
DEBKAfile's military sources: Iran test-fired the missile on April 19. American sources initially said Tehran failed to put a satellite into orbit, but several days later they said it was very possible that Iran had only tested the third stage of the missile.
