Iran: Power lines to Fordo facility blown up

The power lines to Iran’s primary underground enrichment facility at Fordo were cut last month by explosive blasts set off by “terrorists and saboteurs,” Iran’s atomic energy chief Fereydoun Abbasi-Davani told the Vienna meeting Monday of UN nuclear watchdog members. DEBKAfile: The incident was kept under wraps and power was quickly restored to the facility, which clandestinely enriches uranium to near military grade of 20 percent. Our Iranian sources report that the next day, IAEA monitors asked for permission to inspect the site of the blast. Tehran wondered suspiciously how they knew about it. Hence, Abbasi’s accusation at the Vienna meeting.
