Iran presents upgraded US F-5 as its new homemade fighter jet
Aviation experts agree that the new Iranian fighter jet exhibited at the National Defense Industry, shown with President Hassan Rouhani in the cockpit, is in fact a rebuilt 40-year old F-5F Tiger with some new digital avionics. The Kowsar was presented as “100 percent indigenously made” with “advanced avionics” and multi-purpose radar. All the experts find that Iran’s “new fighter jet” cannot compare with a modern aircraft like an F/A-18, a Mirage 2000 a Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale.
