Iran responsible for cyber attacks on leading US banks
The Iranian government this week carried out more cyber attacks which slowed down the JPMorgan and Bank of America websites, according to NBC quoting US national security officials. The hackers claimed they were prompted by the film mocking Prophet Muhammad, but one US official said this was just a cover story. He suggested that the cyber attack was in response to US sanctions on Iranian banks. A former US official said the attacks intended to cause “functional and significant damage.”
