Iran, Russia and China schedule joint naval drills in Indian Ocean

Iranian navy commander Rear Adm. Hossein Khanzadi confirmed on Tuesday that Iran, Russia and China will hold joint naval drills in the Indian Ocean form Dec. 22, 2019 to Jan. 20, 2020. He did not specify the location of the exercise but according to media reports it will be in the Gulf of Oman. The Iranian commander said its purpose was to ensure collective security and help boost the security in the northern part of the Indian Ocean, where various incidents, including pirate attacks, are taking place.
