Iran: Russia could pay for oil with second nuclear reactor
Iranian ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei said Monday that Russia could build a second reactor at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant in exchange for Iranian oil. He was referring to negotiations reported last month on the supply of 500,000 barrels of Iranian oil per day for Russian goods. That discussion was condemned as undermining Western efforts to keep up economic pressure on Tehran through diplomacy for a comprehensive nuclear accord. The interview with the ambassador was published the day before the six powers resume those negotiations.
