Iran says it launched missile strikes against ISIS in Syria

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards report the firing of medium-range missile attacks from Kermansha, Iran, across Iraq Sunday night at ISIS targets in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria. The attack was in revenge for the Islamist attacks on the Iranian parliament and Khomeini tomb earlier this month, killing at least 11 people. This was the first time Iran had ever mounted a missile attack inside Syria. Its main purpose was to stop the ISIS attack on Syrian forces which are trapped in a base in Deir ez-Zor.
