Iran seeks death sentence for numbers of “US spies”
A number of suspects arrested less than a year ago on suspicion of spying for the United States “in military and nuclear bodies,” face possible death sentences by military tribunals, Iran’s state TV reported on Tuesday. Many are dual nationals. The statement comes the day after Iran said it had amassed more low-enriched uranium than permitted under a 2015 nuclear deal, a move denounced by President Donald Trump as “playing with fire.” Last month, Iran executed a former defense ministry contractor on charges of spying for the CIA.
