Iran starts naval war games in two strategic straits
Iran Sunday launched naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, the Bab el-Mandab and northern Indian Ocean, amid high tensions with the Trump administration. Rear Adm. Habibollah Sayyari said that navy sips, submarines, helicopters and marine units will hold drills across an area of some 2 million sq. km along the coasts of Yemen and Iran, through which millions of barrels of all pass daily.
Last Wednesday, at the end of a previous round of war games, General Mohammad Pakpour, head of the Revolutionary Guards’ ground forces, said the US should expect a “strong slap in the face” if it underestimates Iran’s defense capabilities.
