Iran will retaliate for any cyberattacks on its nuclear sites

Iran’s National Security Council warned of retaliation against “any country conducting cyberattacks on its nuclear sites,” after three Iranian officials said the fire at Natanz on Thursday was caused by cyber sabotage. The NSC spokesman said that experts had determined the main cause of the incident and would only reveal it in due course for security reasons. Iranian media have cast suspicion on the US and Israel.

The BBC reported in Friday that an unknown group calling itself the “Cheetahs of the Homeland” claimed responsibility for the Natanz attack in a message sent to its Persian service before news of the incident became public. The group claimed in a video that its numbers included “soldiers from the heart of regime’s security organizations” who wanted to stop Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
