Iran won’t let Trump “rip up” nuclear deal
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday he would not let US President-elect Donald Trump rip up the global nuclear deal and warned of repercussions if he did. During his campaign for the White House, Trump had called the accord "the worst deal ever negotiated.” Rouhani echoed supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, when he also warned that any changes to the nuclear deal, including an extension of the US sanctions regime, would be viewed as a violation of the accord. Last month, the U.S. Congress passed legislation to extend the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) for 10 years to make it easier for Washington to re-impose sanctions if Tehran contravenes the nuclear deal. President Barack Obama still needs to sign the legislation.
"There is no doubt that the United States is our enemy," said Rouhani.
