Iranian army chief slams US carrier arrival in Gulf

Iranian armed forces commander Maj. Gen. Mohammad Baqeri said Sunday that the USS John C. Stennis carrier strike group’s arrival in the Gulf fueled insecurity by “deceiving” its allies into a false sense of security. Baqeri at the same time praised the withdrawal of American troops from Syria as fostering “security and peace in the whole region.”
