Iranian Guardsmen clash with Kurds in Iranian Azerbaijan

Iranian media report that battles raged on Friday in Mahabad County in western Iranian Azerbaijan between soldiers of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and armed Kurds, who were defined by Tehran as “terrorist and propagandist operatives.” This was the second clash in a few days. The Revolutionary Guards counted a dozen dead, including a Colonel, while the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan reported 12 casualties.
