Iranian navy plans Caribbean deployment within reach of US East Coast
The Iranian navy is building 11 new warships for its next three missions, as disclosed this week by Iranian Revolutionary Guards chief Gen. Hossein Salami and Navy Commander Rear Adm Shahram Irani:
- A combat presence in the Mediterranean to enforce Iran’s maritime links with Its Shiite militias in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
- Control of Indian Ocean waters to safeguard the route to China
- A naval presence in the Caribbean to bring America’s East Coast within striking reach of Iran’s missiles.
