Iran’s nuclear czar reports preliminary activities for resuming 20pc enrichment

“We are om the verge” of being ready, said Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organizations of Iran on Sunday. He reported that Iran had begun “preliminary activities for designing” a modern process for 20pc uranium enrichment at an old research facility  in Tehran. Restarting enrichment at that grade would be tantamount to Iran’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, which President Donald Trump pulled out of last May. Salehi said that “modern fuel” would increase efficiency at the Tehran research reactor. The Iranian official said nothing about mass enrichment in its main facility at Natanz.
