Iran’s top soldier and Rev Guards commander in Ankara
Iran’s Armed Forces Chief, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Baqeri, and the head of the Revolutionary Guards ground forces arrived in Ankara Wednesday. This was the first visit to Turkey by top Iranian military officials since the 1979 Iranian Islamic revolution. They went into meetings with their Turkish counterparts to coordinate their policies and moves in Syria. DEBKAfile: Tehran and Ankara are apprehensive about advancing US-Russian cooperation in Syria, fearing to be pushed aside. Both are also determined to bring the Kurds under control before they establish an autonomous republic in northern Iraq.
