ISIS claims Karak hostage attack, still battling Jordanian forces
Hours after the Islamic State claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack on the southern Jordanian town of Karak – during which they took tourists hostage in the Crusader castle – fierce firefights erupted Tuesday when large-scale Jordanian security forces raided buildings in the town in search of terrorists. Arab social media report that four Jordanian troops were killed at several flashpoints. In the first attack Sunday, 10 people were killed by the terrorists, including a Canadian woman, and 23 people were injured.
