ISIS claims Somali attack at Ohio University
Amaq, ISIS' unofficial news agency, released a statement on Tuesday claiming credit for the attack at Ohio State University and calling the 19-year Somali refugee Abdul Razak Ali Artan a “soldier” of the Islamic State for running over and slashing 11 people on the campus. One victim is in critical condition and 7 are serious but stable.
Artan was a Somali refugee who came to the US legally with his parents in 2014 after living in Pakistan for seven years. He cited Al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki on a Facebook page referenced "dawla in al-sham," the self-declared Islamic emirate in Syria. In a post he left on Facebook shortly before the attack, he said that assaults on Muslims around the world “led to a boiling point, I can’t take it anymore.” It ended by saying: "By Allah, I am willing to kill a billion infidels in retribution for a single DISABLED Muslim/Musliman."
