ISIS kills 9 Iraqi border guards near Jordanian frontier
The Islamic State struck the Iraqi Rutba post near the Jordanian border early Tuesday with mortar fire and electric saws, killing nine Iraqi troops and injuring 20. Even after a prolonged assault, the jihadis failed to capture the position and withdrew. Rutba, which lies on Rte 10 leading up to the Tarbil Border Crossing to Jordan, has been a key ISIS target since it was captured from them in May.
