ISIS now claims release of female suicide for Japanese hostage’s life
The Islamic State appears to have changed its ransom demand for one of the Japanese hostages from $200m to the release of “our sister,” who is held in Jordan. According to unconfirmed reports, one of the hostages, Haruna Yukawa, has been beheaded. In pleading for his life, the second captive, Kenji Goto, disclosed the jihadists’ new demand.
It is for Jordan’s release of Sajda al-Rishawi, a female suicide bomber who in 2005 attacked the Radisson SAS hotel in Amman killing 57 people at a wedding reception. Her husband’s bomb belt detonated; hers did not and she was arrested.
