ISIS recaptures main road leading to Palmyra
Islamic State fighters on Wednesday recaptured the main road from Homs to Palmyra, Route 32 located west of the ancient city, and the Shaer oil field north of Palmyra despite airstrikes by the Syrian air force. Syrian army forces loyal to President Bashar Assad backed by the Russian military and especially its air force captured Palmyra from ISIS at the end of March. But now, according to reliable Arab sources, the city is surrounded by fighters from the terrorist organization who are threatening to retake it.
