ISIS releases picture of alleged bomb that downed Metrojet flight
ISIS released on Thursday evening a photograph of what it said was the bomb smuggled onto the Russian flight that was downed in the Sinai Peninsula on October 31. The picture was released via social media used by the terrorist organization. DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources said that it cannot be ruled out that the picture, showing a soft drink can, along with what appears to be a fuse and a detonator, is intended to deceive the various security services investigating the incident. Additional pictures released by ISIS showed Russian passports taken from the crash site. The fact that ISIS fighters were the first ones to arrive, and to collect passports scattered in the area, supports the assumption that the plane was downed by a missile rather than a bomb.
