Islamist strikes kill 27 troops in three towns of Egyptian Sinai
Using a car bomb and mortar rounds, the Islamic State affiliate Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis Thursday killed at least 27 soldiers and wounded more than 100 others in simultaneous attacks on the northern Sinai capital of El Arish, nearby Sheikh Zuwaid and Rafah on Gazan border. Egyptian officials said the attacks included at least one car bomb set off outside a military base and mortar rounds fired at a hotel, a police club and more than a dozen checkpoints. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity. A fourth terrorist attack at the same time hit the town of Suez.
