Israel air strike killed launcher of rockets at Sharon funeral
Ahmed Za’anin of Beit Hanoun was killed in an Israeli air strike early Wednesday. He was blamed for firing two rockets shortly after Ariel Sharon’s funeral last week and a large number of terrorist offences in recent years, including missile attacks on Israel, laying bomb traps for soldiers and sniper and rocket fire on Israeli tanks patrolling the border. The rockets against the Sharon ranch exploded on open ground. Killed with Za’anin was a relative. Both were described as former Islamic Jihad members who joined the radical secular PFLP.
