Israel buys 4 missile corvettes from Germany to defend gas fields

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reported Thursday that four corvette warships had been purchased from Germany to defend Israel’s offshore Mediterranean gas and oil installations. Berlin is contributing $145 million out of the total purchase price of $1.2 bn. Netanyahu expressed Israel’s gratitude to Chancellor Angela Merkel for her role in promoting the transaction.
