Israel has 298 confirmed coronavirus patients, European borders closing


The number of Israelis who tested positive for coronavirus jumped to 298 by Monday night, four in serious condition. The health authorities forecast a total of 10,000 within a fortnight unless the country goes into full lockdown.

In a U-turn by Chancellor Angela Merkel, Germany Monday shut its borders with Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and Denmark, after a total of 5,817 confirmed federal cases of coronavirus and 13 deaths. Italy, Spain and France saw the highest daily jump in covid-19 deaths on Sunday, reaching respective totals of 1,809, 292 and 127. President Emmanuel Macron plans to declared full closure in Paris.
