Israel is capable of striking Iran without US backup
Israel is skeptical of the US administration’s intentions to stop a nuclear Iran at any price, said a senior Israeli official to Israeli radio Tuesday. The Syrian experience showed a gap between US action and President Obama’s words, meaning that Israel cannot rely on US promises. The official said Israel could manage military action against Iran without US operational backup, although an Israeli operation would be less qualitative than an American one. [Since Hasan Rouhani was elected Iranian president] Jerusalem fears that direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran will lead to the easing of sanctions for the sake of Iranian concessions that fall below Israel’s stipulations.
