Syrian state TV reported that several missiles from the Golan early Thursday struck Iranian ammunition depots near western Damascus. Rebel sources said seven people were killed, including four members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. According to one report, the attack struck a consignment of arms flown in to Syria on Wednesday by an IRGC plane that had not been seen for six months after it was damaged in a previous Israeli attack.
Mid-air explosions seen on video were described as coming from Syrian-anti-missile defenses. There is no comment form Israel on these reports.
Last week. Moscow accused Israel of endangering civilians when its air force struck an Iranian target in Damascus airport as a passenger flight was coming in to land. That attack left 23 dead and elicited threat from Tehran of a “crushing blow” to Israel if the attacks on Iranian interests continued.
