Israel orders special measures against hate crimes
The security cabinet Sunday approved measures empowering the security authorities to apply every resource available to prevent hate crimes like the arson murders perpetrated against a Palestinian family in the village of Duma by a still unknown assailant. Administrative detentions of Jewish suspects would henceforth be permissible – subject to the State Attorney’s endorsement. The crime committed in Duma was deemed an act of terrorism in every sense. The security agencies were directed to make very possible effort to bring the culprits to justice.
