Israel rejects harsh US criticism of Jerusalem construction

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said Friday: "This week, the UN, the EU and the State Department criticized Israel for the construction plans in Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood, claiming that it undermines the solution of two states for two peoples. The State Department’s harsh condemnation of the plans to build 770 new apartments as “corrosive” to peace diverts attention from the real obstacle to peace – the Palestinian refusal to recognize the Jewish state within any borders.” They all know that Jerusalem's Gilo neighborhood will be part of Israel in any peace agreement that may be reached.”
