Israel successfully tests ‘Arrow 3’ missile defense system
Israel's Defense Ministry said Thursday morning that a test of the country's "Arrow 3" missile system has been carried out jointly with the US agency for development of defensive missiles, the Missile Defense Agency. The results of the test showed that the system made a direct hit on the targeted missile, which was fired by an air force plane. Engineers from the missile factory of Israel Aircraft Industries are continuing to analyze the results. The Arrow 3 is intended to provide defense against ballistic missiles even before they enter the atmosphere using a kinetic explosion at great altitude.
DEBKAfile's military sources report that the latest test followed two unsuccessful ones during the past year, and also took place following reports that Iran successfully tested a medium-range, nuclear-capable ballistic missile, the Ghadr-110, about a month ago.
