Israel to train Australian forces in counter-terror tactics
Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull wrapped up his visit to Israel for the Battle of Beersheba centenary with the announcement that his country’s police, paramedics, firefighters and Defense personnel will study new methods of protecting buildings, carrying out surveillance and using biometrics from Israeli experts. This is in line with Turnbull’s newly launched strategy for protecting crowd centers from terrorism.
Australian emergency services and border officials will travel to Israel, to draw from that country’s vast experience in keeping people safe in public areas, while officers from transport security and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection will be sent to learn how to better screen passengers and air cargo.
