Israel wins second gold in Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Judo

Peter Paltchik of Israel defeated Elmar Gasimov of Azerbaijan on Monday to take the gold medal in the men’s 100-kilogram division at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam judo tournament. On Sunday, Sagi Muki won  Israel’s first gold in the 81-kg class. At the award ceremony, Israel’s national anthem was played for the first time in the UAE.  Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev, who heads the Israel delegation to the event, visited the Sheikh Zayed Mosque. She said: ‘I signed the mosque’s guest book in Hebrew. I wanted to show the brotherhood that could be between Jews and Muslims, and offer a hand in peace,’ she said.
