Israeli air force strikes targets near Damascus airport – reports

Lebanese and Syrian media report Israeli aerial attacks early Friday on targets near Damascus airport. Explosions were heard coming from the airport caused, according to these reports, by two missiles that blew up arms depots serving Hizballah and the Syrian army. It is also claimed that Syrian air defense fire downed an Israel drone taking part in the attack. These reports are not confirmed by any official sources in Damascus or Beirut.
Two weeks ago, Israel was alleged to have bombed a chemical weapons research center in western Syria.

The ‘drone’ that was ‘shot down’ may have been a spoofed radar signal of a drone. Israel is known to have the capability to spoof Syrian radar systems.
