Israeli anti-missile device for airliners successfully tested

The Defense Ministry and Elbit Systems announced Thursday the successful trial of the C-Music system for protecting passenger aircraft from shoulder-launched missiles, developed over ten years. The Transport Ministry has chosen C-Music for Israeli commercial planes. It has also been commissioned by a number of foreign airlines. The device detects incoming missiles with an infrared sensor and fires a laser beam that disrupts the missile’s navigation and throws it off course away from its target.
