Israeli communities near Gaza may be evacuated in time of war: IDF general

The IDF is planning for the possible evacuation of Israeli communities if needed in time of war, the head of the Southern Command said Wednesday. Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir's comment at a conference regarding the Hamas tunnels came in response to a statement by Alon Davidi, mayor of Sderot, that the residents of his city will not evacuate their homes. Zamir said the terrorist organization has imposed heavy taxes on residents of Gaza so that it can continue to dig tunnels into Israeli territory and prepare for the next round of fighting with Israel.
