Israeli director Guy Nativ wins Oscar for best short film
Guy Nativ, Israeli director, won an Academy Award for his Live-Action Short Film “Skin,” with his American wife Jaime Ray Newman. He said as a grandson of a Holocaust survivor he focused on bigotry in America and Europe. “I moved here five years ago from Israel,” he said, calling out in Hebrew “Good night!” and said “This film is about education. It’s about teaching your kids a better way.”
The last Israeli to win a Oscar was Moshé Mizrahi who in 1978, won Best Foreign Language Film with his movie “Madame Rosa,” an adaption of the 1975 novel “The Life Before Us” by Romain Gary.
