Israeli envoys take up posts in four Arab capitals
After 20 years, Israel’s liaison office to Morocco was reopened in Rabat by Ambassador David Govrin, former ambassador to Egypt, on Tuesday. Ambassador Ilan Sztulman, took charge of the general consulate in Dubai after serving in Argentina. He will focus on economic ties and hi-tech. On Sunday, Ambassador Eitan Na’eh opened the embassy in Abu Dhabi after the UAE confirmed its plan to establish an embassy in Tel Aviv. The Israeli Embassy to Bahrain opened its doors some weeks ago, using the premises of what was once a secret Israeli diplomatic office in Manama.
Govrin’s and Na’eh are to serve as charges d’affaires on a temporary bases in the countries that recently normalized ties with Israel until the post-election government appoints ambassadors.
