Israeli navy commando pursuit foils arms smuggling to Hamas
The IDF spokesman has disclosed a three-month old episode: The Israeli Navy and Shin Bet located a vessel that they suspected of smuggling arms from Sinai to Hamas. Commandos of the Navy’s 916 Company and the Snapir Unit were ordered to head out to sea and halt the suspect vessel. After giving chase, they boarded the ship. Two terrorists aboard, who were handed over to security forces for interrogation, revealed that the arms freight was intended for the Palestinian Hamas’ naval commando forces in the Gaza Strip.
