Israeli officer killed by friendly fire near Gaza fence

An Israeli officer was killed early on Tuesday by friendly fire near the security fence between Israel and northern Gaza. He has been identified as Capt. Tal Nahman, 21, from Ness Ziona.  Initial findings indicate he was shot and killed inadvertently by another IDF force in the area, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated. The officer's family has been notified.
