The Israel Police, Border Police and the IDF were on alert on Wednesday, the 40th observance of "Land Day" that will include a general strike in the Arab sector. Demonstrations and marches are planned in a number of locations in the Galilee and the Negev to mark a 1976 protest by Israeli Arabs against a plan to confiscate Arab land in the Galilee and expand the city of Karmiel. Security forces are being deployed to maintain public order during the marches and demonstrations.
