Israel’s Air Force inaugurates second F-35 squadron
At the Negev desert air base of Nevatim, the 116th Squadron of the Israeli Air force on Thursday inaugurated the second squadron of the fifth-generation F-35 stealth aircraft known as the “Lions of the South.” On contract for the delivery of at least 50 F-35s from Lockheed Martin by 2024, Israel is the first country after the US to acquire this state-of-the-art-aircraft after with certain modifications in accordance with its special needs.
